Student Financial Services is here to assist students & families in making their college education affordable We operate on a walk-in basis and meet with students/families to discuss aid options to cover educational expenses This includes: Federal Grants- Pell Grant, SEOG Grant, Workstudy Federal Loans for Students & Parents PHEAA State Grants (for PA residents) Scholarships Veterans Benefits ( Not certifying official) Certification of Alternative/Private Loans

How to Contact us? The best way to get in contact with us is for students/families to visit our office. We use a queuing system that allows students/families to join our virtual line via their phones. Students/Families will receive text alerts when they provide cell phone number

How to Contact us? Our office also utilizes a ticketing system for our call center and emails that are sent to SFS. Call & email volumes are high during the start of each semester. For a faster response we recommend that students visit the office. Students/Parents calling us at 215-204-2244 will be assigned a ticket number. A financial aid representative will then call or email you back with the answer(s) to your questions. All emails sent to SFS also generate a help ticket. Students can then track their ticket(s) via their TUPortal. Students can also initiate a help ticket online at: https://tuhelp.temple.edu/

Federal student aid: fill out Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA ) at fafsa.gov U.S. citizen or permanent resident High school graduate/GED holder Eligible degree/certificate program 2020-2021 FAFSA uses 2018 IRS tax information Valid Social Security number Males registered for Selective Service The 2020-2021 FAFSA is for Fall 2020, Spring 2021 & Summer 2021 Satisfactory academic progress in college/career school

Types of Federal Aid Grants ( Free funding) Federal Pell Grant Federal SEOG Grant Federal Workstudy Grant Loans ( Funding that must be paid back) Direct Subsidized Loan- Student is the borrower No interest accruing while enrolled in at least 6 credit hours. Direct Unsubsidized Loan- Student is the borrower. Interest is accruing while student is enrolled. Parent Plus Loan for Undergraduate Students Parent is the borrower- based on credit.

Need Based Aid vs. Merit Based Aid Need-Based Aid Merit-Based Awarded by Admissions’ Office at the time of acceptance. Ex. President, Deans scholarship Awarded by Financial Aid Office Eligibility is determined by a review of the students/families finances. Generally the results the FAFSA application are used to determine a student's "financial need.“ Some schools/colleges offer their own merit based scholarships. Eligibility can range from a student's academic, artistic, or athletic accomplishments (not limited to theses categories). In most cases, a student's "financial need" will not play a part in determining a student's eligibility.

Most scholarship deadlines for 2020-2021 are January 2020- March 2020 Let our office know if you are expecting an outside scholarship. Bursar Office

Bursar Office Bills for tuition and fees, including University housing, as well as providing timely information regarding your financial account status. Collects payments for students’ accounts either through the disbursement of funds through Student Financial Services, third party sponsors, and processing of personal payments. Processes and deposits funds collected by other University departments, in accordance with Temple’s Cash Handling policy.

Paying Your Tuition and Fees Fall balance due notifications are issued starting the 3rd week of July No charges will appear until students have registered for classes Newly registered students will receive balance due notifications on the Monday following registration Notifications are sent to electronically to Temple email accounts and to authorized payers

Ways To Pay Online (TUpay) (electronic check and credit card) Payments by mail (check only) Payments in-Person (cash, check or money order) PA 529 College Savings Programs- If you participate in either the Guaranteed Savings Plan or Investment Plan programs, you must first contact the program to request that a payment be issued to Temple University. International payments- Flywire-Students can make international payments with real-time currency conversion. This service offers 24-hour support in multiple languages.

Temple Installment Payment Plan TIPP is an interest-free prepayment plan administered on behalf of the University by Higher Education Services, Inc. (HES). The plan allows Temple students to make up to ten regularly scheduled monthly payments starting in May towards their future charges (five payments for fall and five payments for spring). Students can finance all or a portion of their charges by paying a 50 application fee. Payments can be made directly to Higher Education Services, Inc. by check, preauthorized debit, or credit card.
