Major 101 Everything you’ve always wanted to know about your undergraduate psychology degree and more! SOAR Summer 2017

Welcome to the Psychology Department! We are Popular! We have more students than space available what does that mean for you? Pre-reqs! Students must meet pre-reqs to declare the major, & transfers must meet extra requirements Our students: Over 1600 OF THEM! Majors Minor Pre-Majors (less than 60 units only)

Being a Transfer Student 101 A Quick Pep Talk, especially for you! First, meet “Pat” College is hard! It’s supposed to be. Like life, college is what you make of it. There is no one here who doesn’t want you to succeed. Be your own best friend, and take actions to add yourself to the list of people who want you to succeed.

Being a Transfer Student 101 You may find that you have to work harder and more independently on your studies than you ever have before. Yes, you’re right! That doesn’t mean you’re not ready for the challenge. We believe in you!!!!!! There were approximately 86,000 applications to CSULB for Fall semester. YOU WERE SELECTED! MAKE THE MOST OF IT!

Being a Transfer Student 101 You may find that it’s harder to make friends here than at other places you were before. Yes, that’s right! That’s true for everyone, though. Some of the best advice I’ve ever heard a transfer student give another is, “talk to the person next to you in class”! Say hello a few times, that stranger may just be a friend you haven’t met yet!

Being a Transfer Student 101 You’ll get out what you put in! Dedicate yourself and your time to your studies. You may have to say “no” to some fun things or even some “extra” work commitments. But, four semesters go by in the blink of an eye. Recognize we expect you to be much more independent and self-motivated than you might have before. That’s on purpose, because you are ready to design your own life’s successes!
