Provider Transfers http://www.elcpalmbeach.org/child-care-resource-and-referral-forms How can Providers assist families with School Readiness or CSC Scholarship transfers? Families Leaving Your Program: Determine if the parent has any outstanding fees. If the parent has outstanding fees, please work with the parent to resolve the matter. If the parent has no assessed parent fees or a zero balance, complete the bottom portion of the “Provider Transfer Form” and return the form to the parent. Remind parents that ELC requires 2-3 days to process the request. Remind parents that a new certificate will be needed prior to starting the child at the new facility. Families Interested in Transferring to Your Program: Assist the parent with completing the transfer process by providing a blank copy of the “Provider Transfer Form”. Educate Parents about the Transfer process and timeframe. (2-3 business days) Review new certificate to ensure that your site is listed and review the authorized start date to ensure proper payment.

Background Screening Changes to Background Screening Requirements All background screening must go through Clearinghouse. From September 2016-May 2017, child care providers are to be rescreening personnel hired prior to July 1, 2016. Rescreening on existing staff may be delayed due to increased volume. Deadline May 2017

Health and Safety Checklists - SR Important Timelines for Current Providers March 31, 2017 – Training requirements Preservice: within 90 days of employment 2 options for training: 29 hours subset of DCF courses Staff Must have Understanding Developmentally Appropriate Practices and One of the Age Appropriate Practices OR 14 hours of specific ELFL courses which will be available by January 13, 2017 Continues: 10 hours of in-service

Health and Safety Checklists - Important Timelines continued June 30, 2017 – all other standards October 25, 2018 – Active Credential Requirements. Providers have 24 months from October 24, 2016 to come into compliance with the active credential requirement for group size. Group Size requirements are outlined in Section 4, page 14 Centers or Section 3, page 12 for FCCH.

Please review – correct any errors and complete any missing information. School Readiness, CSC Scholarship and VPK contracts all require providers to complete an annual update. Unusual Incident Reporting Unusual incident notification - (report to ELC no later than the close of business on the next business day and submit written report within 3 business days from the date of the incident.) An unusual incident is any significant event involving the health and safety of children under provider’s care. Examples: accusations of abuse or neglect against the provider or staff; injury of a child that requires professional medical attention; notice of litigation where provider is named party or defendant and which relates to the provider’s operation at any location where services are provided. Developmental Screening Friendly Reminders: Adjust the age for Prematurity – Use ASQ Age Calculator online: www.agesandstages.com Any screening that exceeded the time given by the Coalition for completion needs to be updated to the child’s current chronological age. Communicate screening results, in writing to the parents. Review the packet before you send. Avoid email as a form to submit screenings. Best Practices in Inclusive Early Childhood Education for Practitioners (BPIECE) This voluntary self-assessment tool has been developed for early learning practitioners. The purpose is to provide a framework that builds a bridge between research on inclusion and practices in early childhood education settings.
