Changes from Version 04 Tributary Port Number (TPN) assignment by control plane is introduced in this new version – Auto-MSI is deprecated by G.798 – Added a section to introduce a new TPN object and describe the procedure of TPN assignment

TPN in Data Plane TPN is carried by N MSI bytes in the OPUk overhead N the total number of TS Each byte indicates the multiplex structure of one TS One TPN is assigned for the same LO ODUj in each OTUk link MSI [i] LO ODU TPN #1 ODU2 2 #2 ODU2 2 #3 ODU1 x #4 ODU1 y #5 ODU2 2 #6 ODU2 2 #7 #16 Others Others MSI bytes in OPUk OH TPN 2 A TPN 2 OTU3 link TPN 3 B TPN 3 OTU3 link C

TPN Assignment by Control Plane Auto-MSI (data plane TPN assignment) is deprecated by G.798, so Control Plane TPN assignment is needed OTU3 link Downstre am Assignme nt Upstream Assignme nt A A OTU3 link B Path: Req ODU2 Resv: Label #1/2/5/6, TPN 2 Path: Req ODU2 Resv: Label #2/4/5/6, TPN 3 OTU3 link OTU3 link Path: Label #1/2/5/6, TPN 2 Resv: accept B Path: Label #2/4/5/6, TPN 3 Resv: accept C C

Next Steps Adopt it as a WG document – Many people are interested in this topic – Significant agreement have been achieved – Quite stable for quite long time Investigate the possibility to put TPN information into Label object Refine it according to the feedback from the meeting or mailing list
