BILLING FOR YOUR IEP ASSESSMENT Are you planning to screen vision, hearing, dental and acanthosis nigricans when we return to in person schooling (if not done during your health assessment)? 82% said YES --one comment: health aides will do this Per Katie Nilsson, MSN, RN, CPN Medicaid Compliance Director at San Joaquin County Office of Education When I have a health interview but no vision/hearing screening, I can't bill. You are correct, all parts of the requirements need to be met to bill for an assessment. Current assessments: You can mark it as “other” and in the comment section, you can write something to the effect of “Covid-19” for tracking purposes. That way the assessment is tracked but won’t be sent for billing. Once the opportunity arises to bill the assessment, you could go back in and change the assessment type and date and it will then be billed. Is there a time limit for this health interview to be valid before having an opportunity to do the vision/hearing? The assessment can be billed up to one year so when you are able to complete the vision/hearing you can submit the claim. Does there need to be another iep meeting to be able to bill once I obtain the vision and hearing? You do not need to hold another IEP.

DO I ATTEND THE IEP MEETING? KNOWN HEALTH CONDITIONS HEALTH PLAN ON FILE OHI MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS THAT IMPAIRS ABILITY TO FUNCTION AT SCHOOL, LEARN OR HAS MULTIPLE MEDICAL PROCEDURES TRANSITIONING TO ANOTHER SITE NEW TO THE DISTRICT Wide variety on whether to attend all iep meetings if health conditions exist.
