Our CARES Team provides assistance and a path to resources for students experiencing emotional, social, physical, or economic concerns that impact a student’s academic and overall well-being. We focus on enhancing student success and retention by identifying needs, removing barriers, reducing anxiety and advocating for our students. Through our reporting system you can report a concern about a student, an incident involving an alleged violation of the Rutgers University policy on Sexual Harassment, Sexual Violence, Relationship Violence, Stalking and Related Misconduct, a code of conduct incident or an academic integrity incident. Students tend to be “multiple” – they have multiple concerns, they have multiple reports / incidents, they present to multiple offices / departments Student issues may require a hand - off from CARES to Conduct to Title IX and back again. Our case information system provides the CARES Team the ability to stay abreast of a student’s progress. Our case information system allows us to track behavioral, conduct, academic, medical and social relationship issues to show student’s full history of reported concerns. Our case information system allows multiple layers of confidentiality and access restrictions Letter templates provide consistent language in outreach to students while allowing us to customized letters based on type of incident report submitted. The Student Code of Conduct Personal Responsibility & Integrity The University Code of Student Conduct governs the student disciplinary process at Rutgers. The Code describes prohibited behaviors, potential sanctions for violations of the Code, and the process for adjudicating alleged violations of the Code including allegations of academic integrity violations. Prohibited Conduct The following actions are subject to disciplinary review on or off campus: Academic Integrity Disruption Disorderly conduct: Alcohol, drugs, narcotics, controlled substances, & paraphernalia Undisclosed recording: Violations of other University policies Abuse of the disciplinary system Acts of dishonesty Safety violations Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey Physical misconduct Sexual assault or non-consensual sexual contact Bullying, intimidation, and harassment Defamation Hazing Invasion of privacy Theft or damage to property Distribution of alcohol, narcotics, or dangerous drugs Stalking

Most common Conduct Caseload – excluding Title IX & Academic Integrity Unique charges, each case may include multiple charges against a student Theft or damage to property Unlawfully possessing or using drugs, narcotics, controlled substances, or paraphernalia Forging, unauthorized alteration, or unauthorized use of any University documents or records, or any instrument or form of identification. Unauthorized entry into, use of, or misuse of University property, including computers and data and voice communication networks. Intentionally or recklessly starting a fire Failing to comply with the reasonable and lawful directions of University officials and University police . Taking or attempting to take University property or private property without the consent of the owner or person legally responsible for that property . Obtaining University services through devious means. Intentionally or recklessly damaging University or private property . Engaging in classroom conduct prohibited by the faculty member or in violation of the law or University policy. Possessing or consuming alcohol under the legal drinking age in New Jersey.
