CTE Course Approval and Funding Changes

Prior funding/approval model Students/courses must meet CTE rules during October count to be approved Failure to meet rules resulted in entire course being not approved Courses not approved did not receive CTE category funds

New funding/approval model Changes in how students are counted/funded in FY15 No more October count week Change required a new strategy for CTE

New funding/approval model Some rules will move from CTE to EMIS Some course-level approval rules will remain Some rules will move to the studentlevel Some rules no longer needed

EMIS checks Missing or Invalid: Subject Code Semester Code Location IRN Student Gender Staff Employee ID Staff Name Staff Education Level Staff Demographic

Course-level approvals Teacher-level checks (licensure, hours) Mapping/Correlated courses Family and Consumer Sciences/GRADS Course under minimum hours

Student-level rules Only fund students in a CTE Workforce Development Academic class who are also enrolled in a CTE Workforce Development Anchor class Only fund 7th, 8th, 9th graders in middle school courses (VM) Only fund students in related courses (V3) who are also enrolled in an Anchor

No longer needed Course over hours – we will only fund to the maximum allowed hours Contract staff Matching student rules
