Housing Options For New Students: Incoming First-Year students can expect to be assigned to North or South Halls. Incoming Transfer students may be assigned to any of our residence halls. Our most common housing assignments for Transfer students are within one of two transfer communities (Bell/Tower Hall, or Pioneer Village).

Housing Selection Process For New Students: Due June 1, 2023 at 5 PM: Step 1: Fill out the Housing Agreement Step 2: Fill out your Housing Preference Form Step 3: Create a MooseMatch Profile to browse for other students who are looking for a roommate and/or to submit a roommate request(s). If you already know who you want to live with you must request that person through MooseMatch! Please note: these requests cannot be guaranteed depending on space availability but the Assistant Director of Housing Operations will work to try and accommodate as many new student roommate requests as possible. Step 4 (if necessary): Any student requesting a medical accommodation should contact the Office of Learning Services Students will be able to view their room assignment beginning on July 5, 2023.

Frequently Asked Questions!

Question 1: What is the Housing Agreement? The student housing agreement is a binding year-long agreement between the student and the College. The agreement outlines your rights as a residential student as well as the policies and procedures expected of you by the Office of Student Living & Campus Engagement. When you sign the housing agreement before selection day, you are committed to living in the residence halls until the end of the academic year that you are signing the agreement for. In the case of unusual or extenuating medical or financial circumstances, requests for early termination of the housing agreement can be submitted through the Housing Release Application found on the Student Living Website.

Question 2: Does Utica University have a housing requirement? All students are required to live in university residence halls for their first two years at Utica University unless residing at home with their parents or legal guardians who live within a 30mile radius, they are a transfer student who has lived on campus for two years at another institution (or an equivalence between previous institution and Utica University), or they will be 21 by August 1st.

Question 3: Are there exceptions to the housing requirement? In rare situations students are released from the two-year housing requirement due to medical and/or financial reasons. In order for a new student to be considered for release from the on-campus living requirement, they must submit their request through the Housing Release Application found on the Student Living Website on or before June 1.

Question 4: What is MooseMatch? MooseMatch is our online roommate finder! You can login and create a profile and then you can search for people with similar qualities to find someone who may be a good match! From there, you can chat in the chat feature and identify if you want to be roommates! Please note: If you already know who you want to live with you both must create a MooseMatch account and request each other! MooseMatch requests are due on June 1 at 5 PM!

Question 5: What do I do if I know who I want to live with? If you already know who you want to live with you both must create a MooseMatch account and request each other! We will NOT accept email requests. MooseMatch requests are due on June 1 at 5 PM!

Question 6: What if I do not request a roommate? Our office will do our best to match new students up based on the responses from the Housing Preference Form! Housing PM! Preference Forms are due on June 1 at 5

Question 7: What if I miss the deadline? You can still fill out your housing agreement after June 1. We will randomly assign you to a space for the upcoming year. After the June 1 deadline you can email us a roommate request but we cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate it.

Question 8: Does Utica offer Special-Interest Housing for New Students? Utica University has a separate application for the following specialinterest housing options: All-Gender Housing: All-Gender Housing is designed for students who may want to live with someone regardless of their gender, gender identity, or gender expression. In these assignments, legal sex is not a determining factor for assignment. If you would like to discuss All-Gender Housing options please reach out to Lauren Waszkiewicz, Assistant Director of Housing Operations.

Question 9: What do I do if I believe I need a housing accommodation? Any new student who believes they need a housing accommodation due to significant, documented medical disability, including shortterm injuries, should contact the Office of Learning Services no later than June 1 at 5 PM with their request. All requests will require documentation from a physician and will be reviewed by the Housing Accommodations Committee.

Question 10: Will there be pictures and room specifications provided? Yes! We are currently working on getting some images and specifications that we can provide virtually. All of this will be added to the website in the coming months!
