Motivation Increase the number of PA-Preamble sequences Enhance reception performance for single frequency network like PA-Preamble deployment Detect multiple basestation types Facilitate CSG/OSG femto BS and microcell BS detection

Anchor based MFSK Anchor carrier is overlapped for all PA-Preambles to facilitate the lock of center frequency MFSK interleaves PA-Preambles on frequency domain to reduce interference to different PA-Preambles An AMS can detect macro BS and femto BS at the same time to facilitate handover procedure CSG femto BS does not interfere the performance of PA-Preamble detection and further enhance the synchronization performance due to overlapped anchor carrier Low detection complexity: only 15 subcarriers correlation detector is applied

Subcluster-based MIMO scheme Different subclusters are rotated with different phase rotation from different basestations The scheme avoids signal cancellation on frequency domain and increase the PA-Preamble detection performance 7 phase rotation vectors are proposed in this proposal

Anchor based MFSK vs. CDM Anchor based MFSK CDM Single frequency network – – BS type: – – – – All Preambles are either interlaced on frequency domain or the same on overlapped subcarriers MFSK with anchor carrier assists in detecting PAPreamble with different Preambles The preamble allows multiple PA-Preamble sends at the same time Multiple BS types are differentiated at the same time It facilitate the handover form macro BS to CSG/OSG femto BS or micro BS to share the load from macro BS Less brute-force SA-Preamble detection can be avoided Low complexity: only 15 subcarriers correlation detection can be applied More sequences: 17 sequences Single frequency network – – BS type: – Only one PA-Preamble send within entire network CDM will degrade the detection performance CDM It degrades the performance of PA-Preamble due to overlapped scenario High complexity: at least 216 subcarriers differential detection is necessary Less sequences: 11 sequences

Simulation Results Detection performance for A-Preamble is evaluated Detection performance of PA-Preamble Two proposals are compared – ITRI PA-Preamble with IEEE 802.16m SA-Preamble PA-Boosting level [dB] Comp\FFT IEEE 802.16m No interference SIR 2dB 7.58 ITRI Two 17.9287 ITRI All 17.3249 SA-Boosting level [dB] Comp\FFT Two phase rotation vectors All phase rotation vectors – IEEE 802.16m PA-Preamble and SAPreamlbe Three scenarios: – PA-Preamble detection performance without timing error – A-Preamble detection performance with real timing estimation 512 512 IEEE 802.16m 7.11 Channel Bandwidth 5MHz Center frequency 2.5GHz Frequency offset 10ppm Over-sampling Factor 28/25 FFT Size 512 Cyclic prefix (CP) ratio 1/8 Channel condition PB3, VA60, VA120 The number of antennas Tx:2, Rx:1 Modulation BPSK, QPSK,MPSK Receiver Differential Detection for IEEE 802.16m Cluster-based correlator and energy detection for ITRI

PA-Preamble Detection Performance under Single Frequency Network for ITRI Proposal Scenario: – – – – Two transmission antennas Two basestations Perfect timing Identical transmission power ITRI’s proposal renders better detection performance ITRI’s proposal avoids signal cancellation within the network

A-Preamble Detection Error Rate with No Interference ITRI and IEEE 802.16m proposals render similar performance No performance degradation

A-Preamble Detection Error Rate with SIR 2dB ITRI’s proposal provides better detection performance It comes from better PAPreamble detection When we consider that whole network applies identical PA-Preamble, ITRI’s proposal is more competitive

Conclusion Anchor based MFSK PA-Preamble provides more system features comparing to AWD CDM PA-Preamble – Enhance reception performance on single frequency network like deployment – Detect multiple BS types at the same time without performance degradation – CSG femto BS can be distinguished in case of introducing redundant SAPreamble detection – Less detection complexity – More PA-Preamble sequences MFSK PA-Preamble provides better performance to CDM PAPreamble and enhances A-Preamble detection performance Adopt the proposed text in C802.16m-09/1463
